FLOWERS INSPIRED BY 17TH CENTURY FLEMISH ART IN THE PARIS ART MARKET.

(detail) Bouquet of Flowers in a Pewter Pitcher 1956

The end of the season is remarkable for Foujita, whose works continue to achieve great success among collectors at auctions worldwide, particularly in Paris, at Drouot.

This bouquet of anemones had been exhibited in 1956 at the Galerie Paul Pétridès, 56 rue La Boétie.
Its exhibition number is inscribed on the back of the stretcher by Foujita himself.

The painting had remained in its original collection since then.

It ignited the bidding, while remaining French property.
