FLOWERS INSPIRED BY 17TH CENTURY FLEMISH ART IN THE PARIS ART MARKET.

(detail) Bouquet of Flowers in a Pewter Pitcher 1956

The end of the season is remarkable for Foujita, whose works continue to enjoy great success among collectors at auctions around the world, and particularly in Paris, at Drouot.

This bouquet of anemones was exhibited in 1956 at the Galerie Paul Pétridès, 56 rue La Boétie.
Its exhibition number is written on the back, on the stretcher, by Foujita himself.

The painting has remained in its original collection ever since.

It set the bidding alight, while remaining French property.
